Secure Video Recorder is the first and only app for Android able to record videos protected with built-in passwords.

The encrypted videos can be safely transferred and stored everywhere, including third party cloud services and remote servers.

Main activity

From this screen you can start the recording or playback process.

Click the red floating button with plus sign from the bottom right corner of the screen.
Scroll the list of recorded videos and tap the play button on the left.
Tap on menu item "Settings".
Select a video clip from the list with a long click and tap on menu item "Delete".

Recording activity

From this screen you can make the preview and the recording.

  • You will be asked to create a password.
  • The preview screen will give a choice of front or back camera.
  • Once you are ready to go, click the red button on the right.
  • Recording starts with on-the-fly encryption.
  • The recorded time is displayed at the bottom of the screen.
  • The current output size and bitrate for each stream are available at the left side.
  • Pinching the screen changes the zoom level.
  • To stop the recording, click the Start/Stop button again.

Playback activity

  • You will be asked to enter a password.
  • Playback starts immediately, with on-the-fly decryption.
  • After 10 seconds of no-tap activity, players goes in full screen mode.
  • To see the playback controls again, tap on the screen.

Secure Video Recorder requires a device running Android 4.3 or newer, due to the use of API for hardware accelerated encoding.
By default, the videos are saved at the device's "DCIM" folder under the "secure_video_recorder" subfolder: "/DCIM/secure_video_recorder". You can change that folder from the settings.
Yes, there is a switch in the Setting named "Reuse last entered password".
On-the-fly encryption/decryption requires addional CPU power, which limits the number of available frame resolutions.
Secure Video Recorder uses the industry standard AES cipher with 128-bit key length optimized for speed.
